Common Questions and Answers
- Question : What is CAT coating? Answer :
- Question : What is the N2 injection System? Answer :
CAT means Color Adjusted Transmission which is exclusive to the Predator series. It is slightly different but close to High Contrast Lenses on performance. CAT is even better as it filters out light-waves of green and blue light. This will give you an edge in locating and identifying game more accurately and faster.
Unlike the common binocular which is only water-resistant, this Steiner Predator is both waterproof and fog proof. It guarantees for ultimate weatherproof protection. This binocular will stand up against wet weather conditions. It is also going to get condensation-inducing environments under control to remain fog-free. The chambers between the lens have been purged with and sealed with 14-psi pressurized level of dry nitrogen. No damping because of cold or early morning fogginess.
To end with, the Steiner Predator 10x42mm offers versatile performance up to par, but there are better options available whether in the same price range or quality. The Predator is able to deliver reasonably crisp and clear images with excellent contrast ratio. Though there is the Vortex Diamondback 8x28mm which comes with comparable clarity and brightness it costs lower-priced. The Monarch 7 ATB 10x42mm by Nikon offers a decent improvement in optical quality almost at the same price point. View with the Steiner Predator is not so bright and crisp as the Nikon Monarch 5 8x56mm or Vortex Viper HD 8x42mm.
Again, the field of view for Steiner Predator is 381 feet at 1000 yards while the Zeiss Terra ED 8x32 and Swarovski EL 8.5x42 only perform better at this range. If you already have any of these binoculars, there is no reason to upgrade. But, if you are looking for a new pair, there is Steiner 10x42mm for reliable performance in all conditions.
