e in real life from the below review.
Scout 1000 dx laser rangefinder had created quite a buzz when they first came up with the ARC (Angle Range Compensation) technology. It can give accurate reading even if you are targeting an object that has an inclination angle with your position. It is loaded with a few excellent features. Read on to know the details.
Whom is this product ideal for?
Of course, it is not a baby toy; it is a high-end rangefinder suitable for target shooting and hunting. This product is ideal for both bow and rifle hunter. But don't forget to conform to the rules of your state. When you opt for hunting, take a look at the rulebook to know what you’re allowed to do and what is prohibited.
Key Features of Bushnell Scout DX 1000 ARC Rangefinder
The key features of this rangefinder are as follows.
1. Angle Range Compensation (ARC)
ARC refers to an advanced laser rangefinder monocular why built-in inclinometer that allows the users to get an almost perfect measurement of the horizontal distance to the target. It can display the exact angle from -90 to +90 degrees of elevation and is +/- 1.0 degree accurate. ARC’s integrated inclinometer calculates accurate distance no matter what if the targeting objects are uphill or downhill.
2. Bow Mode & Rifle Mode
The mechanism of bow hunting and gun hunting differs to a great extent. This rangefinder comes with a unique feature that allows any kind of hunting an easy task. ARC Bow Mode measures the horizontal distance out to 99 yards and ARC Rifle Mode measures bullet-drop/holdover in inches, MOA & Mil
3. Variable Sight-In Feature
This feature works especially for the Rifle Mode. It allows the hunter to set the holdover/bullet-drop information for the rifle’s zero. You can simply push a button to select between 100-300 yards sight-in distance. The reading will appear in MOA or inches.
4. Bulletproof & Water Resistant
The manufacturer Bushnell claims this product to be bulletproof. They also offer a 100% bulletproof guarantee for the customers. You can use this rangefinder in wet weather as it is water resistant.
5. Brush Mode
Brush Mode helps the hunter keep focus only on the target object by ignoring the foreground. It only measures the distances to background objects and displays the reading accordingly.
6. Automatic Scan Mode
It comes with a standard automatic scan option that enables the hunter to target objects within 1000 yards. The minimum distance for this mode is 10 yards. If you target multiple targets, it will continuously update the distance between you and your target.
7. BullsEye Indicator
This tool has a BullsEye indicator to ease the hunting experience. This feature comes in handy when more than one target is acquired. Distance to the closest object will be measured, and a crosshair will surround the bullseye indicating this distance as of the closest target.
8. E.S.P. (Extreme. Speed. Precision.) Turboprocessor
DX 1000 ARC™ acquires the target with built-in E.S.P. Turboprocessor. E.S.P. refers to Extreme Speed Precision.
Common Questions and Answers
- Question : What affects the range? Answer :
- Question : How can I insert the battery? Answer :
The rage depends on the reflectivity of the targets. It can aim highly reflective object even if the target is 1000 yards away. But, for most objects, the maximum range is around 650 yards.
Lift the battery door tab by rotating it counterclockwise. Then insert CR2 3-volt lithium battery into the negative compartment end first, and then replace the battery cap
I’m both a hunter and a hunting optics fan. I purchased this rangefinder a few months ago. After using it several times, now I think it’s the time to reveal the truth about this scout 1000 dx laser rangefinder. Keep reading to know what I’ve found.
The first thing I loved about this rangefinder is its sportive look. It looks sturdy and stylish; I put this thing on the test while I went on rifle hunting and a bow hunting in different occasions. In both cases, it provided me with an accurate result. The ARC feature works perfectly even if the target remains in an inclined position. It scans the closest target automatically, and the bullseye feature is right on the money. I'm not sure about the bullet resistance fact but it is surely waterproof as I used it in wet weather. The 6x magnification works perfectly. I faced two problems while using this rangefinder. It doesn't read the distance well if the target remains more than 700 yards far. And, the low light condition affects the performance.
2. Ease of use
It is very easy to use as it has a digital LCD display that shows all the parameters. And all the functions work through a press and hold mechanism. The Posi-Thread battery door made it a bit difficult to install the battery, but it also provides with extra protection.
I did my research on how this digital technology works. I’m sure you also have this curiosity. This rangefinder emits invisible infrared energy pulses which are safe for the eyes. The Scout DX 1000 ARC’s Advanced Digital microprocessor and ASIC chip (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) measures the distance using a simple mechanism. It calculates the distances instantaneously by measuring the time it takes for each pulse to travel from the rangefinder to the target, and back.
How to operate and clean scout dx 1000 arc?
You’ll get the best result if you know how to use and maintain this rangefinder.
1. How to operate it?
- Look through the rangefinder keeping your eyes at the right place.
- Depress the button to switch on display.
- Aim at the target at least 5 yards away from you.
- Press down the power button and hold it until the range reading appears in the display.
- If the crosshair surrounds the aiming circle, the laser is being transmitted.
- Release the power button if there is a range and shoot accordingly.
2. How to clean it?
The lenses may attract dust and debris from the air. An easy cleaning will protect the rangefinder from getting damaged in the long run. Gently blow away the dirt on the lenses. Use a soft cotton cloth to rub the lenses gently. Don’t use coarse things to clean the lenses. You can also use photographic lens tissue and lens cleaning fluid to clean this rangefinder.
This tool has got a mixed reaction from the customers. Some are elated to have bought this one, and some are complaining about its efficacy. It has earned overall 3.9/5 stars in the light of more than 200 reviews on Amazon. The complaints are about the advertised range of 1000 yards and its effectiveness I low light. It doesn't perform well for targets which are 1000 yards away.
Our Final Thoughts
Enough with the constructive analysis! Now it's time for some easy recommendations. Well! I have found this rangefinder effective for hunting in daylight. It performs poorly in dawn and dusk. And the range differs in terms of the reflectivity of the targets. It can’t be described as a flaw because there’s science to cover this drawback. So, in my opinion, I suggest buying this scout dx 1000 rangefinder if you don't have a plan to spend more money on a higher-end device.
